2024 Keynote Speakers
Professor Anne Castles is an ARC Australian Laureate Fellow based at the Australian Centre for the Advancement of Literacy at the Australian Catholic University. Her research focuses on learning to read and dyslexia. She has a particular interest in understanding the process by which children transition from novice to expert readers, and how this can best be supported in the classroom. Her current Laureate project focusses on literacy in high school, which has been a relatively neglected area in reading research. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and serves on the Editorial Boards of several journals including Scientific Studies of Reading, and the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology. She served as President of Learning Difficulties Australia from 2017-18.
